Hearing Brain Audiology
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Courtney Baker, AuD, CCC-A is an audiologist specializing in central auditory processing evaluation and treatment, aural rehabilitation, and tinnitus treatment. She earned her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology from Northwestern University and completed her clinical externship at Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey. She further developed her clinical specialization in Central Auditory Processing (CAP) during a post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. Jeanane Ferre, a nationally recognized expert in the field.
In 2024, Dr. Baker started a private practice, Hearing Brain Audiology, to holistically address the hearing concerns of her clients. She chose the name “Hearing Brain" to highlight the importance the brain plays in how we hear. An often-overlooked attribute of hearing loss, tinnitus, and auditory processing difficulties is their impact on how a patient views themself, their connections with others, and their general well-being. She believes that treating the whole person, not just the auditory system, throughout the evaluation and treatment process, forms the foundation of the practice of audiology.
Beyond patient care, Dr. Baker is actively involved in research and has also contributed to textbooks on intervention for CAPD and Tinnitus. She continues to foster connections with the next generation of professionals through mentoring and teaching in the Northwestern Doctorate of Audiology program.
